Have you visited the web sites of other web design agencies? How many of them tell you their rates and charges? Some will just say "$300 per day" - not very helpful for you. I do try to be as open and honest as I can.

I differ from many other web companies. I prefer to agree the price with you before I start the work, and then I stick to it.

As a potential Client, you need to know that your available budget will be sufficient. I recognise that apart from the cost of developing a web site, you will also need to pay for web space and perhaps other facilities, plus the potential cost of marketing your web presence in more traditional manners. So I do understand and appreciate your need to know and to have a rough idea of the costs of developing a web site.

So I have prepared the following information. It is a guide to my likely prices and not a definitive list. I can't say what it will cost until I know and understand your needs and requirements in more detail.

A "page" is defined as about the capacity of an A4 sheet when printed. This could include graphics, photographs, web and e-mail links, enquiry forms, etc.

To design and code a simple page of text from scratch, perhaps with one or two scanned images (a logo and a photograph, for instance), a few links and about 300 -500 words of text - would typically cost in the region of �90. The page would be fully tested in a variety of browsers and under different screen resolutions to make sure that it looks good under most conditions.

So, if you wanted 8 pages on your site, does that mean it will cost you $720? NO! The total cost will depend on the complexity of the pages, whether they are based on a similar template or radically different and other variables such as the number of new graphics that I need to create.

Web Site Design:

I am a freelance web designer based in Tucson, AZ. I design and develop web sites. I can create the site you need. I won't baffle you with technical jargon and "geek speak". I will discuss your needs in a language that you can understand.

I won't try to make you have something you do not need. If I can't do something that you require, I'll explain that to you and either recommend someone who can or call upon the services of people in my network. I can create large or small web sites but all will have a unique style and professional look.

Site Redesign:

If you already have a web site but you are not that happy with it, I can alter it and make it into what you originally hoped for. Perhaps it uses frames, or you may just no longer like the look of it. Either way, I'll be pleased to change it for you.

Ongoing Site Maintenance:

Sometimes you may need to add new content to your site on a regular basis. But you don't need to hire a full-time employee to do it. I am extremely reliable and can make your changes as and when you request them.

FTP (File Transfer Protocol):

Naturally if I build a web site for you, I will also upload it to your web space as part of the package. But I can also provide this service if you have an existing site. FTP uploads can be tricky, so let me take the worry away from you.

Search Engine Submissions:

Don't be fooled by advertisements for software programmes or by Companies offering to submit your site to the top 1600 search engines. Sure, it makes the process very quick - but it can cost you a lot of money. Many of the automatic multiple submission systems are now being ignored by the search engines. The only way to get properly listed is to do a manual submission to each search engine in turn.

Although there may be 100s of search engines on the internet, many of them use the same databases of information. I can submit your site to the top 20 engines and directories and get you listed.

No-one can guarantee you a listing on Yahoo - so if they tell you that they can, don't believe them!

Code checking:

Perhaps you have designed a web site yourself? Are you sure that the coding of the pages is totally accurate? Some browsers are very unforgiving and what may look good in one browser, can be a total mess in another. I can check your code and advise you of any potential problems.

Hosting:

I can arrange competitively priced web hosting for your site through a variety of companies to match your needs and budget. I would never recommend something to you that you do not require.

Domain names:

I can arrange, at a very competitive price, to register the domain name of your choice (subject to availability). However, I would actually advise you to do that yourself. The problem is, if I register the domain name for you, then that name belongs to me, rather than to you. I would strongly advise you to register the domain name yourself so that you are more in control. But I am happy to advise and assist you with this process.
